Manet Import is the parent company of a Spanish family-owned group specializing in importing and selling fresh and frozen fish and seafood. Based at Mercabarna in Barcelona, the group brings together three brands: Temirsa, Congelados Altamar, and Manet Import. It has operated since 1982 and reports more than 40 years in the industry.
The group’s three brands
- Temirsa: the original company, founded more than 40 years ago, sells fresh fish and aquaculture products, with a focus on Catalonia and the Balearic Islands.
- Congelados Altamar: acquired in 1989, it handles a broad range of frozen fish and seafood.
- Manet Import: focuses on importing and distributing frozen fish and seafood for food service and retail. The company describes itself as one of Spain and Portugal’s leading frozen-food distributors and also supplies France, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Croatia, and Germany.
Scale and capacity
According to the company, the group sold more than 16,000 metric tons of fish in the previous fiscal year, keeps more than 1,000 products in stock, buys from more than 30 countries across four continents, and has about 80 employees across its offices and market operations. Its customer base includes more than 1,000 businesses.
Storage and quality control
Products are stored at the group’s Barcelona facilities, where quality managers oversee unloading and coordinate shipments from the central location.

- IFS Broker for Manet Congelados, an international quality and food-safety standard for commercial intermediaries.
- Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC), which certifies responsible sourcing of aquaculture products.
- Marine Stewardship Council (MSC), which certifies seafood from fisheries managed with environmental sustainability in mind.
