History

The foundation began its work in 1927 with the opening of Hospital de Sant Miquel, established at the request of Miquel Albà i Andreu to care for people with incurable illnesses who had no financial resources. Over the decades, the organization adapted its work to Barcelona's changing social needs. Today, it focuses primarily on residential care for older adults who need ongoing support or face a range of social challenges.
