Seven research centers working together
The Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST) is a scientific collaboration among seven leading research centers in Catalonia. Its work spans genomics, bioengineering, biomedicine, chemistry, nanotechnology, photonics, and high-energy physics, as well as training the next generation of researchers.
Member centers
- CRG (Centre for Genomic Regulation)
- IBEC (Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia)
- ICFO (Institute of Photonic Sciences)
- ICIQ (Institute of Chemical Research of Catalonia)
- ICN2 (Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology)
- IFAE (Institute for High Energy Physics)
- IRB Barcelona (Institute for Research in Biomedicine)
Research and innovation
BIST's research areas include precision medicine, chemical biology, advanced microscopy, and graphene. It supports research and sustainable innovation programs, as well as spin-off development and other innovation initiatives.
Education and talent development
BIST offers programs for graduate and doctoral students, its own courses, a mentoring program, well-being initiatives through WellBIST, and events such as BIST Career Week. It also participates in talent programs with Fundació Catalunya La Pedrera.
