Sociedad Española de Neumología y Cirugía Torácica (SEPAR) is a professional organization representing more than 6,000 respiratory health professionals in Spain. Its members work on scientific projects and initiatives for patients and the public.

Publications and resources

SEPAR publishes journals and collections and maintains a library. It also publishes SEPARNews, a newsletter covering news, events, and society activities. Online resources include reference-equation calculators and a lecture series.

Education and events

The society organizes courses and meetings. Its calendar includes the ERS Congress in Barcelona, respiratory medicine sessions, a thoracic ultrasound course in Madrid, the 2nd SER-SEPAR meeting in Madrid, the 1st SOCAMPAR Fall Conference in Tarancón, and a meeting on pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease in Madrid.

Information for patients

Through SEPARpacientes, the society provides general information on respiratory conditions and available resources. This channel does not offer telemedicine consultations, diagnoses, personalized medical opinions, or second opinions. Topics include asthma, lung cancer, pollution and the environment, COPD, idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, cystic fibrosis, pulmonary arterial hypertension, sleep apnea, smoking, home respiratory therapy, lung transplantation, and tuberculosis.
