Support for people with dementia and their families

Fundació Uszheimer is a Barcelona nonprofit created to address the health and social challenges caused by neurodegenerative diseases. It supports people with Alzheimer's and other neurodegenerative conditions, along with their families, through a biopsychosocial approach.

Programs and services

• Social and educational center: therapeutic, social, and educational services for people with dementia or other neurodegenerative conditions associated with aging. A comprehensive stimulation program aims to slow decline and maintain independence.
• Arts-based stimulation: group arts activities that exercise cognitive abilities in an engaging way, encourage social interaction, and provide emotional expression that can strengthen self-esteem and identity.
• Memory clinic: for people with mild cognitive difficulties, including age-related memory problems and other conditions. It includes neuropsychological assessment and intervention using cognitive-stimulation treatment.
• Individualized stimulation: one-on-one psychoeducational support at home or at one of the centers.
• Family support and guidance: a family support group and information, guidance, and counseling to help families navigate caregiving and living with the condition.
• Diagnostic service: specialized assessment of neurodegenerative diseases by an interdisciplinary team that considers cognitive, physical, social, and other relevant factors.
