AE Joan Maragall

Scouting and youth education in Barcelona

AE Joan Maragall is a scout group, or cau, in Barcelona affiliated with Escoltes Catalans. It provides educational recreation for children and young people through scouting, with weekly activities, outings, and camps. Members are organized by age into the Folets, Llops, Raiers, Pios, and Clan units, alongside the caps, or adult leaders.

Activities and how the group works

The group shares its activities on its blog. Documented events include a family outing to Olesa de Montserrat, a joint scout meeting in Collserola, and a workday to renovate its space. During the renovation, children designed and painted pictures on the walls and took part in workshops about the group’s history and traditions, as well as holiday decorating. Families and former leaders also helped repair camping tents.
