Support and autonomy for women in the Raval

Lloc de la Dona is a social-services organization in Barcelona's Raval neighborhood, affiliated with Germanes Oblates del Santíssim Redemptor. Its work supports women involved in prostitution, with a focus on personal development and autonomy, as well as public education and social change.

Services

• Social support: Initial intake and needs assessment for women who reach the organization through word of mouth, referrals from other groups, or outreach visits to apartments and clubs where prostitution takes place. Staff make an initial assessment to guide the support offered.
• Espai Salut: Medical care and individualized support from a nurse, including one-on-one guidance and rapid sexually transmitted infection (STI) testing. Referrals to emotional and psychological support are available when needed.
• Training and employment support: Job-focused courses aligned with the labor market, personal and professional skills workshops, career guidance, help with job searches, and support during the employment-integration process, in partnership with companies and organizations.
• Public education: Campaigns, workshops, talks, and educational initiatives promoting respect, equality, and dignity.

Public engagement

The organization publishes news and takes part in initiatives addressing human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
