About Aldees Infantils SOS Catalunya
Child and family support in Catalonia
Aldees Infantils SOS Catalunya is the Catalan branch of SOS Children’s Villages, an international, nonreligious, and politically independent nonprofit focused on children. The organization was founded in 1949 in Imst, Austria, and is present in 137 countries with 1,464 alternative-care programs. Its work in Catalonia began in 1967, led by psychologist and social worker Montserrat Andreu.
Care, prevention, and independence
The organization runs protection, prevention, and independence-building projects for children, young people, and families facing vulnerability. Its mission is to support them through care in protective family settings and by strengthening family, social, and community networks. It also works on values-based education and prevention, and has operated international cooperation and humanitarian-response programs for 25 years.
Transparency and funding
Aldees Infantils SOS Catalunya publishes an annual report detailing how its resources are allocated: one share goes to SOS villages and projects, another to fundraising, and another to administrative costs. Under applicable tax rules, donations may qualify for a deduction of up to 80%.
