About Consell Nacional de la Joventut de Catalunya

A representative voice for young people

Consell Nacional de la Joventut de Catalunya (CNJC) is an association-based public-law organization with its own legal status, founded in 1979. It brings together leading youth organizations and local youth councils across Catalonia and works to advance young people's interests in society and with public agencies.

Support for youth organizations

CNJC offers free services to volunteer-led youth associations:

  • Guidance and hands-on support with day-to-day management, for both new and established groups.
  • Use of a multipurpose room for youth organization activities.
  • Equipment loans for events, conferences, and activities.
  • Training and facilitation from a specialized team.
  • Guides, publications, and resources on nonprofit management and young people's rights.

Projects and publications

The council develops its own projects and collaborates with other organizations on civic participation, climate justice, education, mental health, housing, and gender and LGBTQ+ issues. Initiatives include the Youth and Education Association Awards, the Youth Association Balance Sheet, the Youth Charter for Climate Justice, a study on Catalan in scout and recreation groups, and jovesllogateres.cat, a website on young renters' rights.

Institutional work

CNJC participates in the European Youth Forum and holds meetings such as its Extraordinary General Assembly, where resolutions are adopted. It also maintains an events calendar, publishes news and press releases, and provides an archive and media resources.
