About Fundació Privada Boscana
About the foundation
Fundació Privada Boscana is a nonprofit organization based in Barcelona that serves adults with intellectual disabilities. Its origins date to 1961, when the Raventós family turned part of the forest in the Can Caralleu neighborhood into a special school for their daughter, Begoña. Over time, that school became a residence and a day program for occupational therapy. The foundation says it has served more than 1,500 people since it was established.
Services and programs
The organization works across several main service areas:
- Occupational Therapy Center: a day service offering adapted therapeutic, sports, rehabilitation, and recreational activities.
- Residential Center: residential care available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
- Llar-Residència: a residential option with hours from 6 p.m. to 10 a.m.
- Respite care: temporary stays that give family caregivers support and time to rest.
The interdisciplinary team works in a natural setting in Collserola. Facilities include a multisensory room, and activities range from dog-assisted therapy to rugby and magic.
Recognition
The foundation received the Barcelona Medal of Honor in 2017, and Ana Teresa Raventós received the same distinction in 2020.
