About INFANT – Organización Infant

Stable housing and support for women

INFANT is a Barcelona-based association that grew out of volunteer work in the El Raval neighborhood. Three friends founded it after working with women in vulnerable situations. The organization provides stable housing and support for women—especially mothers and expectant mothers—at serious risk of social exclusion, many of whom have experienced sexual exploitation.

Services and support

The association operates transitional homes where women may stay for up to two years. During that time, residents receive:

  • Stable housing and close support, including weekly follow-up on administrative, family, personal, and employment matters.
  • Spanish-language instruction and access to practical job-training courses.
  • Help with procedures such as registering a residence, enrolling children in school, and applying for assistance, in coordination with local organizations and social services.

The arrangement involves a mutual commitment: INFANT provides a home, and residents agree to follow community-living guidelines and take part in their training plans.

Transitional homes

The association has three homes in Barcelona:

  • Roquetas I: the project's first home.
  • Roquetas II: an expansion that allows the association to house more women.
  • Concilio: a newer home that supports the organization's growth.

Projects

INFANT has launched training and employment initiatives, including HUNICA, a jewelry-making course, an occupational workshop, and a sewing workshop that had to close because of limited funding. The association continues to work toward creating a social enterprise that can provide real job opportunities.

Board

The association is governed by a board consisting of:

  • President: M.ª Dolores Riverola de Veciana
  • Secretary: Inés Raventós Raventós
  • Treasurer: Francisco I. Rodríguez Aguirre
  • Board members: Lorenzo P. Valverde García and Ana Roca Fatjó

How to help

The association relies on one-time and monthly donations—for example, €10 a month helps cover basic utilities for a home—and a volunteer network. To get in touch, email info@asociacioninfant.org or use the form on its website.
