About Asociación Cultural Social Arte Culinario de Honduras y Amigos en Cataluña

Community and integration

Asociación Cultural Social Arte Culinario de Honduras y Amigos en Cataluña is a Barcelona-based nonprofit that brings together Hondurans and people from other backgrounds. It aims to support the integration of Honduran immigrants in Catalonia through language classes, practical workshops, and cultural activities.

Activities and services

The association regularly organizes courses and workshops intended to support employment opportunities and social integration:

  • Catalan classes at basic and B1 levels, in partnership with the Consortium for Language Normalization. Participants receive a certificate that the association says can help them regularize their documentation.
  • English classes at different times.
  • Elder-care workshops combining classroom instruction and placements in residential care facilities.
  • Computer classes.
  • Honduran folk-dance practice, including punta dance.
  • Arts and crafts workshops.

The association also takes part in cultural and holiday events around the city, including Honduran Mother's Day, the Day of Our Lady of Suyapa, the Poble Sec Organizations Fair, and Honduras 2012, where it showcases traditional dance and Honduran food.

Class and activity locations

Activities take place at the Plaza Surtidor 12 Civic Center in Barcelona's Poble Sec neighborhood and at the association's office at 3 Carrer de Murillo. Some courses have also been held at Fedelatina.
