About GREFART Arteterapia

Art therapy across health, education, and community work

GREFART Arteterapia is a professional association of art therapists, operating in a role similar to a professional board, with members in several countries in Europe and Latin America. Its practitioners work with diverse communities in health care, mental health, education, social work, and community programs.

The organization advances art therapy through education, research, supervision, cultural activities, and direct intervention projects. Its work is organized into three areas: the professional association, the training institute, and professional services.

Art-therapy training

Instituto de Formación Grefart began developing one of Spain's first art-therapy curricula in 1999. Since 2004, it has offered postgraduate programs in different countries and with different curriculum paths in partnership with the University of Girona Foundation.

Announced programs include:

  • Introductory Art Therapy Expert Diploma (September 2026, Canary Islands).
  • Introduction to Art Therapy course in Pamplona (September 2026).
  • Online master's program in art therapy (October 2026).
  • Integrative master's program in art therapy, 2026–28.

The organization also offers online and in-person art-therapy courses and continuing education for art therapists.

Professional services and projects

GREFART's Professional Services area develops art-therapy intervention projects tailored to the needs of partner organizations. Initiatives include “Colònies DANA” with FAMPA-Valencia, funded by Spain's Ministry of Youth and Children, and participation in the Erasmus+ training “Transforming Eco-Anxiety into Ecological Awareness, Art and Action” in Foligno, Italy.

Association and international activity

The association organizes professional meetings and events. Those listed include its Barcelona conference on June 6; an online internal conference on April 11, 2026; a Valladolid conference on February 28, 2026; and the first Ibero-American Art Therapy Conference in Arequipa, Peru, on April 19–20, 2025. International work includes experience with Instituto Casa do Todos in São Paulo, Brazil, and the Healing Arts Barcelona 2025 program.

The organization publishes its bylaws and has a dedicated section for Peru, reflecting work or an organizational presence there in addition to its base in Spain.
