About Fundación Ramón Pla Armengol
A family legacy in Barcelona
Fundación Ramón Pla Armengol is a private foundation in Barcelona that manages and promotes the legacy of the Pla Monseny family, centered on Dr. Ramón Pla Armengol and his daughter, Nuria Pla Monseny. Its work focuses on social programs, medical research, and preserving the former Ravetllat-Pla laboratory and institute.
Medical research
The foundation supports research through the Ramón Pla Armengol Research Fellowship. The Ravetllat-Pla Institute, historically devoted to tuberculosis research, is part of the legacy the foundation preserves and develops.
Casa Museo Nuria Pla
Since 2011, the mansion that housed the family home and laboratory has welcomed visitors for guided tours. Following restoration and upkeep, the Ravetllat-Pla Institute reopened as Casa Museo Nuria Pla, displaying one of the world's major collections of Spanish furniture. The museum is at 114–132 Avenida de la Mare de Déu de Montserrat, Barcelona.
Cultural programs and partnerships
The foundation organizes cultural and social events, including the “De l'Arbre al Moble” symposium and the third Ibero-American Congress on the History of Furniture. It also works with organizations such as Fundación ACN and Cáritas. In December 2021, Spain's minister of science and innovation visited the foundation.
