Fundación Kreanta

Culture and local policy

Fundación Kreanta is a nonprofit established in January 2007 as a think tank. It works on local public policy and, more broadly, culture and education. Based in Barcelona, it carries out activities in Spain, Latin America, and the European Union. Spain's Agency for International Development Cooperation recognizes it as a development NGO, and it is a member of the Spanish Association of Foundations.

The foundation operates with a volunteer management team and promotes open knowledge by providing free access to its content and activities.

Programs and approach

Its work is organized into four programs: Ciudades Creativas Kreanta, Cátedra Kreanta, Kreanta Editorial, and KreantaEdu. Strategies include developing city-to-city cooperation projects, creating spaces and platforms for discussion, publishing content, and offering its own training programs.

Publications

The foundation publishes CCK Revista, with recent issues covering identity and culture in Cali, the future of cities, the global cultural agenda and MONDIACULT 2025, and culture in Bogotá. It also released a digital edition of Learning from Colombia: Culture and Education to Transform the City, 15 years after the book's 2008 print edition.

Events and international cooperation

Fundación Kreanta organizes the International Kreanta Creative Cities Conferences. The 14th edition took place in Bogotá, Colombia, from July 16 to 18, 2025, and focused on the present and future of cities through culture, the creative economy, and digital innovation. The foundation works with public, private, and nonprofit institutions and has carried out projects in Colombia, including a partnership with the Mayor's Office of La Ceja del Tambo, Antioquia, and the Semillas de Mujer program in Cali.
