About Fundació Banc dels Aliments

Recovering food and getting it to people who need it

Fundació Banc dels Aliments is an independent, nonpartisan, nonreligious nonprofit based in Barcelona. It recovers food that is still safe to eat but has left the commercial supply chain and distributes it to people experiencing poverty or at risk of social exclusion.

How the food bank works

The foundation receives food from food companies, donation drives, and supermarkets. It stores the food and, when needed, processes it before sending it through its distribution network. Partner social service organizations then deliver it to people who need it. The foundation reports a network of more than 300 organizations.
