About Entrepueblos
Solidarity, education, and advocacy
Entrepueblos is a nonprofit association working in international solidarity, transformative education, and political advocacy. It grew out of solidarity committees for Latin America in 1988 and reports more than 1,400 members in Spain. Its work prioritizes Latin America—Abya Yala—while also including activities in Spain and Europe.
Areas of work
- Solidarity and cooperation: working alongside rural and Indigenous communities, with particular attention to human rights and the rights of nature.
- Transformative education: educational and public-awareness projects informed by feminist, antiracist, and decolonial perspectives.
- Political advocacy: participation in platforms, networks, and forums supporting freedom of expression and assembly, opposing borders that restrict migrants, responding to human-rights violations, and challenging megaprojects that damage local communities and the environment.
Campaigns and featured projects
- Texaco-Chevron case in the Ecuadorian Amazon: support for UDAPT, the Union of People Affected by Texaco's Oil Operations, in its efforts to challenge corporate impunity and call for a binding treaty.
- Activists for Life: a project with photojournalist Gervasio Sánchez documenting the experiences of environmental and human-rights defenders in Guatemala and Honduras.
- Rumbo a Cuba: support for a humanitarian flotilla seeking to break the United States' energy blockade of Cuba.
- Exhibition on environmentally forced displacement: opened in Yátova, Valencia, with the city government as part of a project to strengthen community resilience after the DANA floods.
