About EnriquezArte

Community support in Nou Barris

EnriquezArte is a Barcelona-based humanitarian nonprofit that works with families facing hardship. It began in El Turó de la Peira, in the Nou Barris district, an area with substantial cultural diversity where nearly half the population was born outside Europe and about 35% does not have Spanish citizenship. The organization focuses on building communities and solidarity networks through volunteering and professional training.

Projects

EnriquezArte develops initiatives in education, health, and cultural exchange, including:

  • Food bank: reduces food waste and supports people in need.
  • Underwater conservation: removes marine debris through scuba diving.
  • Sustainable nutrition: a community garden and collaboration with a self-managed farm in Barcelona.
  • Children's center: creative and recreational activities that support children's emotional and social development.
  • Neighborhood engagement: builds trust and cooperation among neighbors.
  • Homelessness support: distributes food to people living on the street.
  • Social inclusion: provides tools and opportunities to enter the job market.
  • Older-adult support: offers companionship and emotional support to older adults.

The organization also offers workshops in sports, languages, dance, music, and creative activities, along with job-integration programs.

EnriquezArte describes itself as Barcelona's first international school for NGO management. Through its Voluntraining program, it trains volunteers and people interested in community-building and managing social organizations.
