About Azinnia
Hospital companionship and volunteer support
Azinnia is a nonprofit founded in 2014 by people with prior volunteer experience, primarily in health care and programs for children. Its main goal is to accompany people affected by illness, especially long-term conditions, and provide focused support at different points in their care.
Volunteer programs
The association currently runs three hospital volunteer programs:
- Bellvitge University Hospital: volunteers visit inpatients in their rooms to keep them company, Monday–Friday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- Hestia Duran i Reynals (formerly the Barcelona Social and Health Foundation): volunteers accompany inpatients and assist the occupational therapist with workshop activities.
- Vall d'Hebron University Hospital: volunteer activities in the pediatric unit, including the pediatric intensive care unit, neonatal intensive care unit, and inpatient rooms.
