Associació Salut i Agroecologia (ASiA) is a Barcelona nonprofit working to protect health and promote agroecology and food sovereignty. Its work combines public education and advocacy with direct sales of agroecological products.
Activities and Services
The association organizes weekly activities, talks, discussions, and workshops. It also takes part in campaigns on issues such as glyphosate, food sovereignty, conscious consumption, and nonrenewable energy. ASiA runs a consumer group and an organic grocery shop.
La Botiga de la Iaia Mercè
The association's store, La Botiga de la Iaia Mercè (Granny Mercè's Shop), is at 52 Carrer d'Emili Roca, 08016 Barcelona. Products come from suppliers including Tugas, Cal Nanot, Raphel Lladó, L'Aresta, and Ous Empordà; the selection also includes organically raised meat. The store offers online sales through its e-shop.
Networks and Affiliations
ASiA is a member of Ecologistes en Acció and a cooperative member of Som Energia and Fiare Banca Ètica. It is on Facebook and Twitter and maintains a mailing list with more than 700 subscribers.
