About Fundació Agromediterrània

Supporting agrifood production

Fundació Agromediterrània is a Barcelona nonprofit working to advance agrifood production, with particular attention to animal-feed manufacturers. Its public-interest mission is to encourage cooperation across industry sectors and collaboration with public institutions.

Technical programs and training

The foundation organizes technical and professional-development activities for animal-feed producers and others interested in food safety. Programs include:

  • Animal Feed Technology and Manufacturing Course: held every two years in person over several morning sessions. Topics include new manufacturing processes, more efficient management, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Grain Workshop: grain trading, price relationships between origin and destination, transportation, legal issues, and price arbitration between markets.
  • Feed Manufacturing Process Control and Improvement Conferences: milling, quality control, liquid application, cross-contamination, and the future of feed mills.
  • Local harvest study: research into the quality and food safety of grains produced in Catalonia and France. Feed manufacturers using locally harvested wheat, corn, or barley can submit samples to a laboratory for analysis of physicochemical properties, mycotoxins, pesticides, and salmonella.

Governance

The board of trustees oversees the foundation and its mission. It has 13 members, including a president and secretary appointed by the founding organization. A three-person team manages day-to-day operations.
