Accent Obert is a foundation working to ensure that Catalan has a full presence in the digital world. Its work spans four areas: defending users' digital rights, making digital tools available in Catalan, promoting Catalan-language digital talent, and managing strategic digital infrastructure.

• Advocacy: The foundation protects individual and collective rights in the digital environment.
• Access to tools: It promotes digital tools in Catalan so the Catalan-speaking community can benefit from the opportunities of the digital age.
• Promotion: It supports and mentors Catalan-language digital talent so it can grow and reach wider audiences.
• Infrastructure: It manages strategic digital infrastructure, aiming to provide reliable, efficient services for the common good.

Supporting the .cat domain

Accent Obert describes itself as a driving force behind the .cat domain, an important platform for Catalan-language content online. Managing this infrastructure is part of its goal of maintaining a strong digital foundation for the Catalan-speaking community.

Programs and recognition

Accent Obert organizes the CRIT Awards. More than 1,100 people attended the second edition at Teatre Coliseum in Barcelona. The 2026 edition nominated more than 80 people across 16 categories, with a gala held on May 14 and hosted by Núria Marín. Award recipients included Laura Grau, Guarres!, and Emma Soler. The foundation also publishes analysis of Catalan-language content on social media and the future of the .cat domain.
