Assistive Equipment in Sant Andreu

Quvitec is an orthotics store open to the public in Barcelona's Sant Andreu neighborhood. It was founded on July 1, 2001, by Roger Gómez, a physical therapist and orthotics technician. In 2003, Roberto Salvador, an occupational therapist with hospital and home-rehabilitation experience, joined the business. The center is staffed by licensed health professionals, including physical and occupational therapists, several of whom are also orthotics technicians.

Products and Areas of Support

Its catalog is organized around mobility and everyday care:

• Mobility: Canes, walkers, manual wheelchairs (standard, lightweight, ultralight, seating and positioning, and sports models), power wheelchairs (compact and folding), and scooters.
• Transfers: Patient lifts, standing systems, pool slings, transfer discs and boards, and ultra-low-friction surfaces.
• Pressure-ulcer prevention and positioning: Preventive cushions, static and dynamic mattresses, back supports, positioning aids, and heel protectors.
• Rehabilitation supplies: Equipment for occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech therapy, medicine, and nursing.
• Hygiene: Solutions for showers, bathtubs, and toilets, as well as grab bars and bathing accessories.
• Rest: Clinical and home-care equipment.
• Orthoses, dining, clothing, leisure, and home: Upper- and lower-limb orthoses, adapted cutlery, cups and plates, adaptive clothing, and products for leisure and home use, including the car.

Services

Along with sales, Quvitec provides individualized assessments and guidance. An occupational or physical therapist helps customers choose suitable assistive equipment and provides information about potential financial assistance. The in-house workshop handles assessments, estimates, repairs, adaptations, and maintenance; loaner equipment is available while an item is being repaired, and the team works directly with manufacturers on warranties. Quvitec also rents support equipment, with delivery to the store or a customer's home, and makes visits to homes, hospitals, and care facilities. Its services include assessing and adapting homes and surroundings to meet the needs of users and caregivers, as well as health education and training for users, families, care facilities, and hospitals.

Authorization and Funding

Quvitec is an approved provider for CatSalut and dispenses orthopedic and prosthetic products (PAO). It manages and helps process products through CatSalut (PAO), Muface, PUA, and other programs.
