About Curto Ortopèdia

Company Overview

Founded in 1970, Curto Ortopèdia provides technical orthotics and mobility products. It has five retail locations in Barcelona, L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Mataró, Vilafranca del Penedès, and Alicante, as well as its own workshop for custom-made products. Its work focuses on orthotics, daily-living aids, and personalized adaptations.

Specialties

The company highlights two areas with specialized teams:

  • Lymphedema and lipedema: compression garments, home and professional pneumatic compression devices, external breast prostheses, post-surgical bras, and adapted swimwear, with personalized guidance and equipment rentals available.
  • Custom orthopedic footwear: shoes made on a mold with a personalized last for people with diabetes, at-risk or structurally atypical feet, inflammatory conditions, or orthotics. The shoes can redistribute plantar pressure, accommodate deformities such as hallux valgus or Charcot foot, and secure the foot or orthotic in the shoe.

Products and Services

  • Orthoses: custom and prefabricated devices for the whole body, including cervical, spinal, upper-limb, and lower-limb orthoses. The workshop makes collars, braces, splints, orthotic braces, and DAFO devices to immobilize, stabilize, correct deformities, and support walking.
  • Prostheses: custom upper- and lower-limb and sports prostheses, including transtibial, transfemoral, myoelectric, mechanical, cosmetic, and epithesis types. Licensed and certified technicians make each prosthesis using molds and trial fittings. Options include silicone or thermoplastic sockets, electronic knees such as C-Leg and Rheo Knee, dynamic carbon-fiber feet, and components selected for the person’s amputation level, activity, and sport.
  • Mobility: canes, crutches, walkers, wheelchairs, and adapted electric scooters based on each user’s weight, stability, and degree of independence.
  • Daily-living aids: products that help people with functional limitations, along with rehabilitation and physical-therapy equipment.
  • Rest and bathing: adjustable beds, specialty mattresses, care furniture, and bathroom adaptations such as grab bars, raised toilet seats, bathtub and shower seats, and stools.
  • Orthotic insoles: custom-made after a biomechanical assessment and digital foot scan for conditions such as diabetic foot, plantar fasciitis, metatarsalgia, Morton’s neuroma, and heel spurs.
  • Pediatric orthotics: custom postural seating, orthoses, braces, and walking aids for children with cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, and other neuromotor conditions, with follow-up adjustments during treatment.
