About Fundació Institut Cambó

Preserving Francesc Cambó’s cultural legacy

Helena Cambó and Ramon Guardans created Fundació Institut Cambó in 1999. Its purpose was to provide a lasting legal home for cultural initiatives first supported by Francesc Cambó (1876–1947) and kept active by the Guardans-Cambó family for more than half a century.

Works, correspondence, and publishing

The institute has worked to make Francesc Cambó’s complete works, publications about him, and his correspondence accessible. Its activities have included publishing, a periodicals collection, editorial projects, and patronage of the arts, including painting.

The Bernat Metge collection

The institute is associated with the Bernat Metge collection. During one September edition of the Setmana del Llibre en Català, the first 300 Bernat Metge volumes were offered from €18.

Donation to the Biblioteca de Catalunya

In January 2024, the foundation donated its holdings, including a preserved copy of www.institutcambo.org, to the Biblioteca de Catalunya so that the material and the website’s content at the time of donation could remain accessible.
