Can Batlló
A resident-run community and cultural space in a former textile factory in Barcelona’s La Bordeta neighborhood, with workshops and collective projects.
About Can Batlló
A former factory shaped by its neighbors
Can Batlló is a self-managed community space in the former Can Batlló textile factory in La Bordeta, Barcelona. It occupies several of the site’s industrial halls, known as naus, and operates as a social and cultural facility developed by local residents. Committees and cooperative projects organize its work, while its cultural program has grown over time.
Workshops and gatherings
The space hosts both quarterly and one-off workshops. Its program has included introductory Argentine tango and traditional Greek dance workshops in Nau 69, as well as the autumn 2026 workshop series. Community celebrations include the Can Batlló calçotada and the Quina de Can Batlló, which reached its tenth edition in 2021.
How the association works
Committees and productive projects occupy different areas of the former factory. Anyone can become a member of the Associació Espai comunitari i veïnal autogestionat de Can Batlló and help cover the costs of its activities. The project marked its 14th anniversary in 2025.

The campaign over its buildings
Can Batlló continues to campaign for restoration of the factory halls it uses. In a statement on its website, the association said the Collboni city government did not plan to restore any of its halls during the current term, a decision the association viewed as a failure to prioritize the project.
