Rconnecta

Turning industrial waste into useful materials

Rconnecta is a Catalan cooperative working in the circular economy and collaborative reuse of industrial waste. It connects businesses that generate waste with others that can reuse it, turning discarded materials into resources. The cooperative has operated since October 2017 and is registered as an authorized waste agent with the Catalan Waste Agency under number A-10163.

Services

• Reuse service: Works with offcuts, surplus, and leftovers that can continue serving the same purpose as new products, extending their useful life and returning them to the market.
• Byproduct/product service: Incorporates a share of the waste from one industry as a raw material for another, avoiding the purchase of new materials and reducing costs.
• Innovation and consulting: Prepares technical and financial reports and, with the client’s approval, works to open a market for the solution it has identified.
• Waste management: Provides conventional waste management when materials cannot be reused in another way, tracking waste on behalf of businesses.

Reported results

The cooperative reports recovering 2,914 tons of material from landfills and reusing 487,749 items. Between October 2017 and October 2020, it says it kept 32,000 tons out of landfills.

Partnerships

Rconnecta develops projects with public support and co-funding. The INNOLARVA project became a new social and collaborative economy cooperative supported by the Directorate General for the Social and Solidarity Economy, the Third Sector, and Cooperatives. Rconnecta also works with public and private organizations to improve resource use, reduce costs, and create new revenue.
