Pachamama Barcelona is a consumer cooperative that distributes baskets of organic fruit and vegetables in Barcelona. It delivers by bicycle and also offers a lower-cost pickup option at its Gràcia location on Tuesdays from 4 to 9 p.m.

The cooperative connects the Montmany family, farmers in Begues, with consumers in Barcelona. It also promotes organic food through activities such as farm visits.

Products and sourcing

The cooperative describes its products as locally sourced, working with farmers so that most come from within about 100 kilometers. Crops are grown in Torrelles de Llobregat and Begues, in Baix Llobregat, where the Montmany family’s fields are located. To offer more variety, Josep and Montse take part in the Rebrot Pagès agroecological network in Baix Llobregat.

Its offerings include:

• Terra basket (for two): Seasonal organic fruit and vegetables, with six or seven kinds of vegetables and 1 to 3 kilograms of fruit.
• Honey from Castellbell i el Vilar: Artisanal honey made by Dàmir, not heated above 40°C and produced through transhumant beekeeping.
• Organic bread from Torrelles de Llobregat: Round loaves weighing 0.5 or 1 kilogram.

Ordering and membership

Orders can be placed by email or through the online store. After a one-month trial, customers can become project members and customize their baskets online. The cooperative also helps families organize self-managed food cooperatives.
