El Llevat

A member-run source for local and organic food

El Llevat is a Barcelona-based association focused on organic, locally sourced food. It aims to make organic, fair-trade, and local products more accessible in the city while encouraging responsible, informed consumption. The association is in the process of becoming a cooperative.

How ordering works

Each week, members receive an Excel order sheet listing more than 400 organic, local, and fair-trade products. They can enter quantities, review the total, and pay by bank transfer when submitting the order. There is no requirement to place an order every week. El Llevat offers weekly home delivery with no minimum order, as well as pickup at one of its hubs. Anyone in Barcelona can try the service for a month before joining, with no obligation.

Products

The catalog covers categories such as:

• Fruit and vegetables, including strawberries, figs, eggplant, and artichokes
• Meat and cured meats, including chicken, cooked and cured ham, bull blanc, and fresh botifarra
• Bread and flour, including spelt, whole wheat, corn, and turmeric varieties
• Milk and dairy, including fresh cow's milk, requesón, aged sheep's-milk cheeses, and plain yogurt
• Vegan foods such as vegetable burgers, tofu, tempeh, and seitan
• Drinks, including wine, cava, organic beer, and plant-based beverages
• Detergents and personal-care products
• Prepared foods such as croquettes and cannelloni

Membership

Joining requires an initial €30 contribution to the cooperative's share capital, which is returned if a member leaves. Prospective members can try the service for a month without paying a fee before deciding.
