About Fundació Seira
Finance for the social and cooperative economy
Fundació Seira is a Barcelona nonprofit focused on social and cooperative finance. It works to improve access to funding for social-economy organizations, particularly federated worker cooperatives, with support from the Federació de Cooperatives de Treball de Catalunya.
Origins
The foundation was established in 2008 to preserve and put to collective use the assets created when the Ecotècnia cooperative was transformed. It was launched by former Ecotècnia members and the Federació de Cooperatives de Treball de Catalunya to support and promote cooperatives, especially worker cooperatives.
Financing and business support
- Seira Inversió Social: patient, sustainable financing designed to strengthen social-economy and cooperative organizations.
- Més Espais: development of social facilities providing care services, with a financing model for projects with social and environmental impact.
- Training: activities to strengthen financial literacy among cooperative businesses and address recurring finance needs.
- Financial guidance: professional support to identify financial needs and make decisions, offered to member businesses. The foundation administers this program.
Transparency and evaluation
The foundation publishes an annual social report and internal audit reports. It has also conducted a gender study as a self-assessment of how gender considerations are reflected in its advisory services and internal processes.
Leadership and team
The board of trustees is the foundation's governing body and is elected by the governing council of the Federació de Cooperatives de Catalunya. Laia Bonastra Argüello is president. The management team is led by director Miguel Linde, who has held the position since January 2021, and includes Daniel María, head of investments and financial guidance; Lorena Blanco, operations manager; Anna Yuste, project specialist; Verònica Campos, administrator; and Sonia Lopez-Doriga, head of investments and financial guidance.
