Esplai La Sagrera

Educational recreation in La Sagrera

Esplai La Sagrera is a children's and youth recreation center in Barcelona's La Sagrera neighborhood. It operates as a nonprofit association and organizes educational leisure activities for children and teens during the school year and summer.

Programs and enrollment

The center's two main programs are the curs d'esplai, which runs during the school year, and activitats d'estiu (summer activities). Families begin with online pre-registration and, if their child receives a place, complete enrollment in person during the designated period. Space is limited. The center's internal rules prioritize children already enrolled during the school year and those who have taken part in summer programs before. If applicants are tied under the criteria, places are assigned by lottery.

Requirements and paperwork

For first-time participants, the requested paperwork includes a personal information form, a passport-size photo, a copy of the health insurance card, and, for children over 12, a copy of their national ID card. Families must also pay a deposit to hold a place. It is nonrefundable except in justified circumstances.

Financial assistance

Families can apply for financial aid from Barcelona City Council, which may cover up to 90% of the activity cost. Esplai La Sagrera provides the activity code needed to apply.
