Maritime education and activities in Barcelona

Consorci El Far is a Barcelona maritime center with several locations: its main office at 6–8 Carrer Escar, 08039 Barcelona; the Drassana shipyard at 100 Passeig Joan de Borbó, 08003 Barcelona; and the traditional sailing school at Moll d'Espanya–Moll de la Fusta. What the center does

The organization focuses on three main areas:

• Training: Through Escola dels Treballs del Mar, it offers a vocational program in boat maintenance. It also runs a boat-maintenance trade school program with a laminating and painting team.
• Drassana shipyard: Boats are built and repaired at the facility. The center has developed a small-sailboat prototype with students from IES Rambla Prim and Centre Municipal de Vela.
• School programs: The “Entorn al mar” program gives students activities introducing the marine environment through different areas of the curriculum.

Partnerships and projects

Consorci El Far works with organizations including the Government of Catalonia's youth directorate, Barcelona City Council's Horta-Guinardó district, and Centre Municipal de Vela. One example of its community work was donating an Optimist-class boat to Associació Azimut Scouts Marins, which serves young people ages 6–18.
