Three decades of cooperative technology services

MAD Systems is a worker-owned technology cooperative founded in Barcelona in 1996. For nearly three decades, it has helped organizations put technology to work. It belongs to the Federation of Worker Cooperatives of Catalonia and is listed on Pam a Pam, Catalonia's Social and Solidarity Economy map.

Technology services

The cooperative supports businesses and organizations in several areas:

• Systems administration and managed service provider (MSP) services
• Internet service provider (ISP) services
• Custom software development (SDLC)
• On-site and remote technical support
• Priority support under defined service-level agreements
• Maintenance contracts with scheduled reviews
• Design, installation, and maintenance of LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi networks
• Cybersecurity audits, firewalls, antivirus, and contingency plans
• Automated backup and recovery
• Computer equipment supply
• Software license management

In-house software

MAD Systems develops its own software-as-a-service applications, which it says can be deployed in 48 hours without an upfront investment. Its main products include:

• CheckFACTUR: electronic invoicing (eERP, Verifactu, and AEAT)
• CheckTIMER: geolocated time tracking
• CheckALERT: required whistleblower channel
• CheckTIQUET: digitization of receipts for the AEAT
• CheckMANAGER: issue management
• Smart Portal Services: a company portal for internal communications, people management, cloud storage, and optional modules such as CheckFACTORY and NextCloud

Who it serves

MAD Systems works with organizations of all sizes and across sectors, with a strong presence in manufacturing and production, professional services, cooperatives and the social economy, education and training, retail, and technical services. Barcelona is its main service area, but it works across Spain and participates in two international cooperative projects, one in Europe and one in South America.

Training and community

Since 2010, MAD Systems has been an approved workplace partner for dual vocational education with the Generalitat's Department of Education. It has trained more than 50 higher-level vocational students.
