Grup de Suport SCC is a cooperative providing accounting, tax, and payroll services. It describes its approach as “lightweight accounting” (la comptabilitat lleugera), helping self-employed professionals and small and midsize businesses spend less time on financial administration and more time growing their work.

A cooperative model

The idea for Grup de Suport emerged during the last economic crisis, when many small and midsize businesses had to reduce staff and many accounting professionals lost their jobs or faced precarious self-employment. The firm chose a cooperative structure and provides its members with coverage under Spain’s general social security system, along with marketing services and software tools that support modern, stable working conditions. It serves businesses facing similar pressures, offering services at reasonable rates.

The team

The team includes worker-members and collaborating members with varied backgrounds:

• Francesc Picanyol, collaborating member. He holds a degree in medieval history from UAB and has additional business studies through UOC. He lives between Barcelona and Sant Joan de les Abadesses.
• Gemma Suriñà, collaborating member. She holds a business administration diploma from UB and has more than 25 years of experience in accounting and general tax matters, including taxation for EU and non-EU residents. She lives in Badalona.
• Antonio Torán, worker-member. He holds an MBA from EAE and a management control qualification from CEF, with extensive experience as a controller and in general and cost accounting across several industries.
