About MICs Sant Jordi
Independent living with support
MICs Sant Jordi is an apartment complex designed for people who need daily support, have disabilities, or have limited mobility. It is managed by Fundació MICs Sant Jordi, which is connected to Fundació Llars de L'Amistat Cheshire, an organization with more than 50 years of experience. MICs stands for Mòduls Independents de Convivència (Independent Living Units): private homes with adaptive equipment and optional 24-hour assistance for people seeking greater independence.
Apartment types and capacity
Four apartment types are available. All have an equipped kitchen with a cooktop, dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator; a TV; air conditioning and heating; Wi-Fi; and assistance alarm systems in the bedroom and bathroom. A washer and dryer are available on each floor.
- Single: 33 m², one bedroom, one bed; for one person.
- Double: 42 or 48 m², one bedroom, two beds; for one or two people.
- Triple: 51 or 62 m², two bedrooms, three beds (two plus one); for two or three people.

Accessibility and support
The apartments follow the accessibility standards in Government of Catalonia Decree 135/1995 and have no architectural barriers. Bedrooms have electric beds and high-density pressure-relief mattresses. Accessible bathrooms include roll-in showers with safety bars, fold-down seats, side-access sinks, and grab bars. The shower seat and sink are 47 cm high.
Assistive equipment is included in the price, such as transfer lifts, bed trapezes and rails, shower chairs, and manual and electric wheelchairs. Care aides with nursing-assistant experience provide support around the clock. Alarm buttons are available at the shower, toilet, and bed, along with personal alert devices. The facility does not have doctors or nurses on staff; assistance is provided by experienced nursing assistants.
Length of stay and rates
Three stay options are available: short stays of a few days for accessible tourism; medium stays of one to six months for medical recovery; and long stays of more than six months in adapted housing. Rates vary by apartment size and length of stay, with three rate structures based on the stay type.
