Communications and film for social change

Quepo is a nonprofit communications cooperative and audiovisual production company based in Barcelona. It describes its work as communications and film production for social-change projects, with a focus on human rights, migration, social justice, cultural rights, and the climate emergency.

History

The cooperative began its audiovisual work in 2007 by filming its first movie in Nairobi. In 2011, it released in theaters the first film in Spain under a Creative Commons license, with the goal of defending free culture. Over time, Quepo developed into a communications agency and audiovisual production company.

Services

  • Communications agency: Communications strategy; campaign design and production; content curation; art direction; creative work and graphic design; communications consulting; website planning and development; digital and social-media strategy; and press relations.
  • Audiovisual production: Documentaries and web documentaries; transmedia and new storytelling formats; participatory video; fiction and advertising spots; awareness videos; motion graphics; and studio rental.

Selected projects

Its work includes “Rosine. Morir esperando Europa,” a documentary about migration; “Escuelas que saben,” a campaign for locally sourced school meals; “Barça o Barzakh,” a migration campaign; “El futur és Ara,” climate-emergency graphics; “Safe Reporting,” a campaign about reporting crimes by migrants; and a video-podcast series on cultural rights. Quepo has also produced campaigns for Fundación Neus Català and marked 125 years of cooperativism with murals across Catalonia.
