Drum Components and Closures

Metalúrgica Diroca is based in Barberà del Vallès, Barcelona, and manufactures components for drums, including lever-lock closures, lids, bottoms, and seals. It supplies drum manufacturers and has more than 50 years of industry experience.

Products

• Lever-lock closures: made for fiber, plastic, and metal drums in different profiles to meet each customer's required dimensions, material thickness, and width.
• Drum lids and bottoms: metal lids and bottoms produced on an automatic line, as well as plastic lids in three standardized families for lever-lock fiber drums, economy fiber drums, and fiber drums made for wire drawing. The company also works with exclusive molds.
• Seals: standardized metal and plastic seals for its lever-lock closures.

Company History

The company was founded in 1963 in Barcelona's Poble Nou neighborhood by Alejandro Diaz Monguillot, Josep Rovira Sabate, and Jaume Calvo Pallas, initially making drum handles. In 1973, it moved to 71 Calle Santander in Barcelona and began producing lever-lock closures for leading fiber-drum manufacturers. In 1976, it incorporated as Metalúrgica Diroca S.A. In 1980, it began making dies for metal lids and molds for plastic lids. An automatic line for metal lids and bottoms was built in 2001, followed by the first robotic closure-manufacturing line in 2011. In 2015, the company consolidated all of its operations under Metalúrgica Diroca S.A.

Certifications and Sustainability

Metalúrgica Diroca has held ISO 9001 certification since 2001 (certificate ESP 2980, issued by Quality Management Systems–Spain), renewed in 2015 by QMS International Ltd. under number 14125054. It has also installed 102 rooftop solar panels with a total capacity of 41.31 kWp and estimated annual production of 44,366.94 kWh through a self-consumption program supported by Spain's Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (NextGenerationEU).
