Fundació Sique

Support for independence and quality of life

Fundació Sique is a private foundation based in Badalona, Barcelona province. It provides support, training, and services for people with intellectual disabilities and their families, helping them build independence and quality of life at home, in the community, and at work.

Services

• Housing: supported homes and residences. The first group home opened in Badalona in 2016.
• Leisure: Club d'Oci Vadelleure is a gathering place with workshops, games, discussions, exhibits, and film screenings, as well as excursions, cultural outings, trips, and vacations.
• Psychology Center: person-centered psychological and social services for people with intellectual disabilities and family members, including guidance, treatment, follow-up, and interdisciplinary support.
• Sports: recreational and competitive sports, with basketball, soccer, and pétanque teams participating in regular adapted-sports leagues.
• Espai Famílies: training, guidance, and peer exchange for parents.
• Guardianship and legal-capacity support: assistance to protect rights and well-being and promote independence for people who need support with decision-making.
• Travel agency: in 2014, the foundation launched VAVAVA, an inclusive, adapted, and accessible travel agency for people with sensory, physical, or intellectual disabilities and their companions. It also organizes group travel for public agencies and private third-sector organizations.

Partners and publications

The foundation receives support from organizations including the Government of Catalonia, Badalona City Council, Obra Social Fundació “la Caixa,” Fundació Privada Llegat Roca i Pi, Fundació Amorós, Mercat Sant Roc, ICT Filtration, Col·legi Badalonès, Adigsa, Corbacho Pinturas, and Urbacet. It periodically publishes L'Informatiu and the video series “Vides Pròpies.”
