About Alcohólicos Anónimos España

Peer support for recovery

Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A.) is a mutual-help association whose purpose is to help people with drinking problems address their alcohol use and support others in recovery. In Spain, it operates through a nationwide network of meeting groups, including groups in treatment centers and correctional facilities.

How meetings work

A.A.’s program is based on group meetings where members share experiences and support one another in maintaining sobriety. The association offers open and closed meetings, online meetings, groups that meet on holidays, and groups in institutions. Visitors can use the province-by-province meeting finder on the organization’s website to look for a nearby group.

Literature and other resources

The General Service Office (O.S.G.) distributes informational pamphlets, books, and newsletters. These publications can be viewed or downloaded as PDFs and include materials such as the documentary Hoy no he bebido (“I Didn’t Drink Today”). The website also has sections for families, women, young people, and health professionals.

A nationwide network

A.A. has groups in nearly every Spanish province, including Ceuta and Melilla, as well as international and online groups. Its central office is at Avda. de Alemania, nº 9, 3º Izda., Avilés, Asturias.
