Sociedad Envases Alimentarios S.A. (SENA) was founded in 1984 and manufactures plastic food packaging using thermoforming. Its main plant is in Eluseder Industrial Park in Areso, Navarra, Spain. The facility covers 10,000 square meters and employs more than 45 people.

Production Capacity and Facilities

SENA operates nine production lines using different technologies, with annual capacity exceeding 7,000 metric tons. The company’s locations reflect its growth: it began in 1984 at the 350-square-meter Ama Kandida site in Andoain; moved to the 1,500-square-meter Denak Industrial Park in Andoain in 1989; expanded to a 2,500-square-meter facility at ATC Industrial Park in Aduna in 1995; and moved to its current 10,000-square-meter site at Eluseder Industrial Park in Areso in 2021.

Packaging Products

SENA offers more than 180 standard products and over 100 custom options. Its packaging is made from PET, polypropylene (PP), and OPS. Product lines include:

• EQUAL rectangular and square containers in OPS, PP, and PET
• High-lid containers in the K and M lines
• Low-lid containers in the S, T, and W lines
• Heat-sealable containers in the GS, TR, and MT lines
• Trays in the BA, TR, MT, and GS lines
• Other products in the PM, E, and BOL lines
• Bakery products in the LC, LR, and RC lines
• Food-service products in the PLATO-Q and PLATO-PR lines
• Custom packaging

The company also sells sealing machines and supplies packaging for food service, takeout, delivery, and salads.

Certifications and Quality

SENA holds the BRC Global Standard for Packaging Materials certification. It renewed the certification in December 2025 with the highest rating, AA, for the fourth consecutive year. The company says its products comply with regulations for materials that come into contact with food.

Customers and Industry Presence

SENA serves both small packers and large multinational companies. It has exhibited at industry trade shows such as Hostelco, held in Barcelona alongside Alimentaria. Navarra Capital has covered the company’s generational transition and recent investments.
