About AEiG La Petjada del Secà

Scouting in Arbeca

AEiG La Petjada del Secà is a scout and guide group based in Arbeca, in the Garrigues region of Lleida. A group of local young people founded it in September 2006. Its name reflects a wish to leave a mark on the town and society, as well as a connection to the region's dryland farming landscape.

Activities and programs

The group organizes educational recreation for children and young people in age-based sections: Castors, Llops i Daines, and Ràngers i Caravel·les. Throughout the year, it holds outings, camps, and events open to the community. Documented activities include:

  • A 2013 start-of-year outing in Ivars d'Urgell, with discovery games and the traditional transition between sections.
  • A booth at the Fira de Santa Caterina selling homemade cakes made by children and their families.
  • A bottle collection for reuse, an environmental project repeated at least twice.
  • CarCalçotada, a March 2014 Carnival celebration with a calçotada, costume contest, and activities for all ages.
  • Hosting the Quàsar of the Northwestern District in April 2014, a gathering of local scout group leaders.

Community support

Activities involve the parents' committee and, on some occasions, logistical support from Arbeca City Council.

Online presence

The group's blog stopped being updated in 2018. Since then, it has shared activities on Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), and Instagram.
