Industrial waste recovery and recycling

Comercial del Reciclaje (COMREC) is based in Alzira, Valencia, and specializes in waste recovery, treatment, and recycling. Founded in the 1980s by Juan Tomás Martínez and Enrique Amat, it has more than 40 years of experience in the industry and operates in Spain and internationally.

Services and specialties

Paper and cardboard are its specialty, but the company treats more than 60 types of hazardous and nonhazardous waste. These include recyclable materials such as plastic, scrap, and metals; nonrecyclable materials such as construction debris, wood, and sludge; and hazardous waste such as sanding dust, paint dust, and contaminated sawdust. COMREC has advanced facilities and machinery, along with the required authorizations and registrations in the Valencian Community.

History and capacity

In its early years, the company bought paper and cardboard in the Alicante area and sold it in Buñol, where more than 100 paper companies were concentrated. As demand grew, it began importing material from the United States, known as “mixed paper,” for sorting and delivery by grade. It later opened its first warehouse in Alzira, enabling it to collect industrial paper and cardboard and receive containers from local governments. The company now has a workforce of 150 and monthly production of 25,000 to 30,000 metric tons of material.

These facilities allow the company to serve Spain’s Mediterranean coast from Castellón to Almería.
