About Mañez y Lozano

Agricultural Sprayers for Crop Protection

Mañez y Lozano is a Spanish agricultural machinery manufacturer specializing in sprayers for crop protection and pesticide application. The company describes itself as the domestic sales leader in its sector, citing more than 20 years in Spain’s Official Register of Agricultural Machinery (ROMA).

History

The company’s roots go back to 1961, when Mañez y Lozano Tratamientos Agrícolas was established to provide crop-protection treatments. Because the equipment available at the time performed poorly, the company began designing its own machines. Mañez y Lozano S.L. Maquinaria Agrícola was formed in 1976. In 1989, it integrated electronic systems into its air-blast sprayers, becoming the first European company to develop this technology.

Technical Milestones

  • 1980: First in-house piston pumps, with direct drive or a reduction shaft.
  • 1985: First sprayers designed for agricultural pesticide application.

  • 1992: Herbitronic equipment for herbicide-boom treatments and low-growing crops.
  • 1995: Computerized Sistromatic system with a CPU that reports trees treated, liters per tree and per minute, and amounts used or remaining.
  • 2001: Anti-contamination filling unit.
  • 2007–2010: In-house production of the multiplier gearbox, clutch, propeller, and nozzles; development and patenting of the Twister air system and its multi-nozzle air outlet.
  • 2011: Patented rear leaf-protection grille.
  • 2017: New line of polyethylene tanks.

Products

The product range includes Narrow, Mega, and Super series sprayers; mounted sprayers; spray cannons; herbicide booms; and components such as controls, pumps, and replacement parts. Equipment is designed for crops including citrus, fruit trees, olives, almonds, grapes, walnuts, and vegetables. The company offers an online replacement-parts store and parts diagrams for its sprayers.

Research and Development

Mañez y Lozano is participating in a project funded by the Valencian Innovation Agency under the 2021 Business Value Chain Consolidation Program and co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund for the Valencian Community, 2014–2020. The project studies eco-compatible precision agriculture systems and methods using IoT and ozone generation for pest control.
