Valencian Tigernut Horchata

Chufi is a Spanish brand of tigernut horchata from Alboraya, Valencia, where it makes and markets refreshing drinks based on selected tigernuts. The brand launched in 1979 with its signature Chufi Original horchata and is part of the Lactalis Puleva group.

• Chufi Maestro Horchatero: introduced in 2008, with a more intense flavor and thicker texture; it was named Product of the Year.
• Chufi Zero: a no-added-sugar variety with a reformulated recipe.

• Chufi Piña Colada: a limited edition combining tigernut drink with pineapple and coconut.

History

The brand was founded in Alboraya, Valencia, in 1979. In 1986, it took part in a committee to establish the regulatory council for the designation of origin, now known as the Protected Designation of Origin for Valencia Tigernuts and Valencia Tigernut Horchata. Since 2022, it has continued to expand its catalog with new products.

Sustainability

Chufi works with Gravity Wave to remove plastic from the Mediterranean Sea and its ports; the brand reports that more than 3,000 kilograms of plastic have been collected. Its packaging includes 30% recycled plastic, an attached cap, and a zipper-style label intended to make recycling easier.
