Emicela is a Canary Islands company with more than 60 years in business. It produces and distributes food and beverages, guest amenities, tableware, work uniforms, and promotional products. Its main customers are hospitality businesses—hotels, restaurants, bars, and cafés—and retail businesses, including hypermarkets and neighborhood stores.

Origins and history

The company grew from a stall run by Emiliano Arencibia Rivero at the Central Market of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria in the late 1950s. In 1963, he acquired a coffee roaster in Schamann and created the Emicela brand, combining the names Emiliano and Araceli, whose family nickname was “Cela.” María Araceli Hernández accompanied Emiliano throughout the company’s development.

International presence

Emicela produces food outside Spain, including at a juice, coffee, and ice-cream factory in Cape Verde. Its subsidiaries are in Cape Verde, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Jamaica, in addition to its operations in Spain.

Quality and certifications

Emicela renewed its IFS Food certification at the Higher Level, with a score of 98.27%. The company also says it works with products bearing designations of origin and follows environmental, social, and economic sustainability standards.
