Water-Filtration Engineering

Founded in Bilbao in 1979 by Javier Otegui, Fluytec engineers and manufactures water-filtration solutions for municipal and industrial applications. It has more than 45 years of experience and production facilities in Spain and Portugal.

Products and Technology

The company designs and manufactures cartridge filters, ultrafiltration systems, self-cleaning filters, and reverse-osmosis pretreatment products. Its equipment supports macrofiltration, microfiltration, ultrafiltration, and ultrapure-water processes. Products are made from materials such as fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) and metal alloys, selected for durability and corrosion resistance.

Capacity and Global Presence

Fluytec reports more than 35 million cubic meters per day of installed filtration capacity worldwide, with individual filters capable of processing up to 1,000 cubic meters per hour. More than 90% of its products are exported. The company has supplied cartridge filters for large-scale desalination facilities, including Jubail II, with a capacity of 1,000,000 cubic meters per day. Its systems are installed in North Africa, the Middle East, and South America.

Milestones

• 1979: Founded in Bilbao.
• 1992: Entered the desalination market with FRP cartridge filters for plants in the Canary and Balearic Islands.
• 2013: Reached 10 million cubic meters per day of installed capacity and expanded its factory in Mungia.
• 2020: Opened a manufacturing facility in Portugal and exceeded 25 million cubic meters per day.
• 2023: Opened a new 4,000-square-meter factory in El Abra, Spain, and reached 35 million cubic meters per day.
