About Tintswalo Collection

Tintswalo Collection: family-owned boutique hotels and lodges in Southern Africa

Tintswalo Collection is a collection of family-owned and managed boutique hotels and properties located in unique settings across Southern Africa. The company presents itself as a collection of exclusive accommodations that combine luxury, nature, and personalized experiences, with properties spread between the Atlantic coast of Cape Town, wildlife reserves near Kruger National Park, and the Limpopo region.

A collection with family origins

The collection's story dates back to the childhood travels of Lisa Goosen, current CEO, alongside her father, Ernest Corbett, through Botswana and other African destinations. The family developed shopping centres in rural areas of South Africa before entering the tourism sector. The first property, Tintswalo Safari, was created in Bushbuckridge, on the edge of Manyeleti Nature Reserve, as a family project involving several generations. From there, the collection grew organically, with each property adapted to its surroundings.

Properties in the collection

  • Tintswalo Atlantic: located in Chapmans Peak, Cape Town, within Table Mountain National Park, in a setting where the ocean and the mountain meet.
  • Tintswalo Boulders: in Simons Town, Cape Town, with a close connection to the sea.
  • Tintswalo Safari: in Greater Kruger, Manyeleti, Hoedspruit, focused on safari experiences.
  • Tintswalo Manor: also in Greater Kruger, Manyeleti, Hoedspruit.
  • Tintswalo Waterberg: in Limpopo, opened in 2020 as a multigenerational retreat for families.
  • Tintswalo Scops Rest: in Klaserie Private Nature Reserve, Hoedspruit.
  • Tintswalo Summer House: in Glencairn, Cape Town, a restored seaside house.

Experiences: luxury, safari, and family

The collection organizes its offerings around three pillars: luxury escapes, safari experiences in wildlife reserves, and family stays. The properties offer accommodation in natural settings, with personalized services and activities tailored to different audiences, from travelers seeking wildlife viewing to families with children. Exclusive villas with views of the savannah or the ocean are also available.

Interior design and creative legacy

Gaye, Lisa Goosen's mother, has been a defining creative force in the interior design and character of each property. That sensibility passed to her granddaughter, Camlyn Johnston, and gave rise to Summer House, a restored coastal home that combines memory, design, and family continuity. The company describes this accommodation as a space of nostalgia, comfort, and the art of hosting, with long lunches and unhurried mornings.

Program for South African residents

The collection has the Tintswalo Travellers Club, an exclusive program for South African residents that includes a special member rate, a personal relationship manager, and access to a concierge service.

Focus on conservation and connection with the environment

The company links its activity to conservation and respect for nature. In its institutional presentation, it states that it hopes guests will take away a deeper understanding of conservation and a renewed respect for the environment, beyond the vacation stay.
