Kavarna Park

A walk around Lake Bled has a sweet reward that belongs to the landscape almost as much as the island and castle: blejska kremna rezina, a layered pastry of puff pastry, vanilla cream and whipped cream. Kavarna Park, inside Hotel Park, is where pastry chef Ištvan Lukačević developed his version in 1953. Bled’s tourism office and the hotel identify it as the home of the original recipe; the café faces the lake and has a terrace, so the stop pairs dessert with a view.

The operator says the cake is still made in the hotel pastry kitchen with fresh ingredients, and the menu includes other desserts, coffee, savoury dishes and vegetarian choices. Visitor reviews repeatedly praise the cake, view and spacious terrace; others comment on prices, uneven service or finding the dessert lighter or less sweet than expected. That helps set expectations: this is not a cheap grab-and-go bakery but a landmark stop beside the water. The official address is Cesta svobode 15; some directories assign a different number to the same café, so use Hotel Park and its phone number as landmarks.

The operator lists daily hours of 11:00–19:00 and a separate outdoor kiosk with its own schedule; the tourism office notes seasonal changes. Wheelchair access and reservations are available. After walking the lake, Kavarna Park is the place to try the original version and sit by the water. Slaščičarna Zima on Grajska cesta offers another pastry stop, with kremna rezina, blejska grmada and a broader selection of cakes and ice cream, but it does not claim to be the birthplace of Hotel Park’s recipe.
