Venture Miami Scholarship: STEM aid for City of Miami residents

The Spring 2027 application opens October 20 and closes December 5, 2026. It requires City of Miami residency—not merely Miami-Dade residence—plus Pell, GPA, an eligible major, and admission to a participating institution.

The Venture Miami Scholarship Fund targets students living within the City of Miami who plan to study science, technology, engineering, mathematics, or other approved high-demand fields. The boundary matters: living in Miami-Dade County does not necessarily mean living inside city limits. Before preparing essays, check your address with the official residency tool.

The 2026 guidelines require a high-school senior or recent graduate within the stated period, at least a 2.5 GPA, demonstrated need and Pell eligibility, U.S. citizenship or permanent residency, admission to a participating institution, and an eligible major. The foundation refers to City of Miami and Little Haiti residents; verify neighborhoods and schools in the rules rather than relying on a nearby ZIP code.

The scholarship fills a funding gap based on cost and other aid; do not assume one universal award amount. The program may require FAFSA, proof of residence, an admission letter, transcript, Pell documentation, and additional records. Annual guidelines set caps and continued-progress obligations; ask the college for a net-cost estimate and whether funds pay the institution directly.

The foundation scholarship page says the Spring 2027 cohort opens October 20 and closes December 5, 2026. Gather records now and apply through the portal within that window; do not email bank details. If you live in the Miami area but outside the city, ask about other Miami Foundation rounds, such as CAP, which has different requirements and is not interchangeable with Venture Miami.

Do not compare programs by the phrase “free tuition” alone. Ask the college for a written budget separating tuition, mandatory fees, books, transportation, housing, and meals, and ask which other grants are deducted before this award is calculated. A last-dollar scholarship may cover only eligible charges left after Pell and institutional aid.

Keep confirmation for every application and check your student portal: FAFSA/CADAA, residency verification, a transcript, education plan, or data-release consent may still be missing. If the current cycle deadline has passed, ask whether an appeal or late list exists, but prepare for the next cycle without assuming late documents will be accepted. Aid can affect other awards and renewals. Before dropping credits, changing campuses, taking a break, or accepting a loan, ask in writing how your award would be recalculated and what academic progress is required. A published maximum is not an individual offer: the final amount depends on funding, eligible charges, other aid, and your file.

Bottom line

Check city boundaries and your major first; the Spring 2027 window opens October 20, 2026.
