Texas Tech does not put every award into one scholarship: it offers merit and competitive awards, need-based support, athletics, arts, band, and departmental scholarships. The 2027–28 cycle page lists different dates by enrollment stage. First determine whether you are applying as a freshman, transfer, or continuing student; relying on another group’s deadline can miss priority review.
For fall first-year admission, the published priority date is December 1, 2026; fall transfers have a January 1, 2027 date; continuing students’ application opens October 1, 2026, and closes February 1, 2027. Texas Tech also lists February 15, 2027, as the state FAFSA/TASFA priority date and April 1 as the freshman merit deadline for students who meet the rules.
Scholarship Universe matches students with university and external opportunities; departmental awards may require separate essays, recommendations, or transcripts. Complete the profile, answer eligibility questions, and revisit the portal during the year. The university advises students to ask academic departments about major-specific funds and confirm which financial form applies to each campus or program.
University policy emphasizes that these are priority dates and that awards depend on available funding and the applicant pool; not all awards renew or may be combined. Submit records before the applicable cutoff and keep copies. If state aid or an outside scholarship is added, ask Financial Aid how it affects the package and the remaining family balance.
Before submitting, confirm whether the deadline is national, state, school, or campus-based, who must send each document, and the time zone. Keep receipts and check application status. Ask the financial-aid office how the award combines with FAFSA, other scholarships, and the full cost of attendance.
Read the aid-program profile and the FAFSA guide; confirm how funding is coordinated.
